This ester is precipitated using water and purified with sodium acetate to isolate the sodium salt. The next step involves alkaline depolymerization of the heparin benzyl ester sodium salt with sodium hydroxide to produce crude Enoxaparin Sodium. The compound undergoes purification via bleaching with hydrogen peroxide. The final step is reprecipitation to obtain the final product.

Enoxaparin Sodium is primarily used in the medical industry as an anticoagulant for the prevention and treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and pulmonary embolism (PE), and to prevent blood clotting during surgeries.
